Wellington is a market town in Somerset, with a population of 14,549. It lies 7 miles southwest of the county town of Taunton. Wellington is close to the border with Devon.

Wellington was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. The town is perhaps best known for giving its name to Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington. The Wellington Monument is located 1.9 miles south of the town and is Grade II* listed. It stands 53m high. Sites of interest in the town include Wellington Museum, which is housed in a Grade II listed building. The Church of St John the Baptist dates from the fifteenth-century and is Grade I listed. Tonedale Mills was a large wool factory in the town that opened in 1790. Tone Dale House is a Grade II listed country house constructed in the nineteenth-century.

Wellington School is an independent boarding school in the town; it was established in 1837. Wellington is also home to Court Fields School, which provides secondary education.

There are facilities for sports including football, rugby and cricket. Wellington A.F.C. is the town's football club and they play their home games at The Playing Field, which has a capacity of 1,500.

There is no railway station in Wellington.
